Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samrala celebrated Mahila Kisan Divas at village Kotaalan 15-10-2018

Under the guidance of Dr. S.C. Sharma ( Associate Director) Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samrala celebrated Mahila Kisan Divas at village Kotala on 15.10.2018. Around 60 farm women participated in this event. Dr. Shivani Rana (Assistant Professor, Home Science) welcomed all the participants and informed them about the importance of Mahila Kisan Divas. She further discussed about the ill effects of burning of crop residue and apprised the women about the various activities organised by KVK regarding crop residue management. Ms. Avneet Kaur (Assistant Professor, Horticulture) discussed about the importance of subsidiary occupations and encouraged the women to adopt mushroom cultivation as a source of additional income. She also discussed about importance of kitchen gardening. Dr. Amarjeet Kaur (Demonstrator, Home Sc.) acquainted the participants about various training programmes organised by KVK and encouraged women to participate in these trainings. On this occasion, ANM of Anganwari centre Ms. Savita Rani and anganwari supervisor and workers were also present. Ms Charnjit Kaur member of Guru Arjun Dev Ji Self help group discussed about the formation of SHG and appreciated the efforts provided by the KVK. During this programme an embroidery competition was organised and the winners were awarded with kitchen gardening kits. At the end, Dr. Shivani Rana thanked all the participants.
