KVK, SAMRALA ORGANIZED TRAINING ON PADDY STRAW MANAGEMENT WITH COLLABORATION OF DEPT. OF FARM MACHINERY AND POWER ENGINEERING 04-04-2018

The Punjab Agricultural University's Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Samrala, organized a training programme on "Paddy Straw Management" in collaboration with the Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, PAU. Secretaries and members of cooperative societies of Ludhiana district attended the training. Dr S. C Sharma, Associate Director, KVK Samrala, highlighted the activities of KVK and urged the members to create awareness regarding no residue burning and adoption of PAU recommended paddy varieties. He further informed them about efforts made by KVK in making Diwala, Powat and few other villages as zero burning villages. He also urged the members to develop strong linkage with the KVK for adoption of paddy straw management techniques. Dr M. K. Narang, Extension Specialist, Agricultural Engineering, delivered a lecture on "Paddy Straw Management: Challenges and Solutions". He discussed various methods and techniques for managing straw. During the training, trainees visited demonstrated plots where they were explained about wheat sowing with different methods including Happy Seeder and straw incorporation. Er Karun Sharma, Assistant Professor, Agricultural Engineering, KVK Samrala, proposed a vote of thanks. Er Arshdeep Singh, Assistant Professor, Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, PAU; and Davinder Singh, Assistant Registrar, Co-operative Societies, Samrala, were also present on the occasion.
