New India Manthan 'SANKALP SE SIDDHI' organized on 07-09-2017 at KVK Samrala

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samrala organized "New Indian Manthan : Sankalp Se Siddhi" as per directions from the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi at KKVK, Samrala on 7th September 2017. About 525 farmers, farmwomen, youth, students, staff of various departments were participated in this programme. Various technologies pertaining to agriculture and allied fields were displayed to the participants along with relevant literature by the KVK, line departments, self help groups etc. Honble MLA, Samrala Sh. Amrik Singh Dhillon presided over the programme and administered a pledge to the participants to make a New India which is free from dirt, poverty, corruption, terrorism, communalism and casteism for development of the country.

In his presidential address he encouraged the farmers to undertake the necessary actions for doubling the farmers income in 2022 and to achieve this dream of the Hon'ble Prime Minister. Dr. S. C. Sharma, Associate Director (Trg.) KVK Samrala, elaborated the KVK activities and said KVK Samrala committed to conduct vocational trainings, transfer of technologies, on farm research and act as knowledge resource centre for the district farmers. Sh Amit Bamby SDM, (PCS) suggested the farmers to join hands with Krishi Vigyan Kendra to take benefits from new technologies. Mr. Rajbir Singh, Director ATARI elaborated the main aim of Sankalp Se Siddhi and different schemes of government.

Dr. Ravinder Singh Chandi (Assistant Entomologist, PAU, Ludhiana) guided the farmers about insect pest management. Dr. Simarjit Kaur, Assistant Agronomist, PAU, Ludhiana guided the framers about the improved crop production technologies. Dr. Shivani Rana (A.P Home Science) encouraged the farm women to adopt kitchen garden for self-sufficiency and nutrition. Dr. Harshneet singh A.P. (Soil science) advised the farmers for soil testing and to make soil health cards. Dr. Davinder Tiwari (A.P. Ext Edu.) encouraged farmers to take skill development trainings to start entrepreneurship. Different departments as Deptt. of fisheries, Soil and water conservation, Deptt. of Dairy science and students of B.Sc Agriculture, Chandigarh University, Mr Jaspal Singh principal Malwa College, Agriculture Development officer, Samrala, Horticulture Development officer, Samrala, NABARD facilitators were present.

The various line departments and the Self Help Groups of the district also put an impressive exhibition and informed the farmers about their products and shared the agricultural knowledge. For the convenience of the farmers, fruit plants, Plants of neem and toon were distributed. Winter vegetable kits and seeds etc. were also sold to the farmers. Farm literature was displayed for sale among the farmers. Film show was also shown to the farmers. Women groups were so encouraged that they take a pledge to earn double income in coming years.

In the end, Dr. S. C. Sahrma, Associate Director (Trg.) KVK Samrala, proposed the vote of thanks to Director ATARI, MLA, SDM, scientists and the farmers present on the occasion.
