Vocational Training organized on Special Cookery from May 13-17, 2019

Under the guidance of Dr. S.C. Sharma , Associate Director (Training), Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samrala organized vocational training on Special Cookery from May 13-17, 2019. During the inaugural session, Dr. S.C. Sharma imparted details of training and emphasized that such training programmes are need of the hour. Application of learnt skills to earn a livelihood and start an enterprise is important to enhance the income of the family and to make agriculture more profitable. Dr. Shivani Rana , Assistant Professor (Home Science) guided about the importance of balanced diet and special cookery. Demonstrations on preparation of noodles, manchurian, suji balls, cake, pan cakes, burgers, pizzas, chocolates etc were given to provide hands-on experience to the trainees by Dr. Shivani Rana and Dr. Amarjeet Kaur. The trainees can implement the skills learnt during the training at household level by preparing healthy and nutritious food at their home and ensure that their families are getting good quality food. Farm women were motivated to form Self Help Group to market their products. Mrs. Avneet Kaur, Assistant Professor (Horticulture), emphasized on the need of adoption of kitchen gardening to get pesticide free vegetables for consumption at household level. Prizes were distributed to the winners of recipe contest held on the last day of training.
