VISIT A TEAM OF SCIENTISTS FROM IARI AT KVK SAMRALA |
Voicing concern over the rising paddy straw burning in Punjab, a team of scientists from Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi comprising Dr H. Pathak, Director, Centre of Environment Science; Prof. Sehgal, Dr Sanjay K. Bandhopadhaya, and Dr Dinesh Kumar Sharma visited various villages of Samrala alongwith the scientists of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samrala. The team, while sharing the harmful effects of open burning of paddy straw with the farmers, said this illegal practice harms the human health, soil fertility and the environment. They lauded the farmers, who after learning straw management techniques from KVK experts, were using paddy straw chopper machine for straw management. They urged the farmers to apprise other fellow farmers of the ill-effects of this practice and acquaint them with straw management techniques. The team also appreciated the efforts of KVK experts for promoting paddy straw management techniques among the farmers. |
